Want to Test Drive the New Golf GTI?

The new Volkswagen Golf GTI has a 2.0-litre TSI engine, six-speed DSG gearbox and is being launched on the 22nd of May. It’s also, in what must be a first, available to test drive online! Volkswagen has built a flash game to let would be owners put the GTI through it’s paces on a giant Scalextric track. As someone who had a Scalextric as a child this really appealed to me, plus a virtual track requires much less fiddling around than a real one!

The race track was built by 60 modellers and is 25ft by 30ft large. It’s remarkably similar to the kind of track you might have had as a child although I’d assume a bit bigger. Those who manage to master the controls of the 1:43 scale model (and not spin off at every corner in true Scalextric style) will appear on a global leader board. If you are fast enough you will be entered into a prize draw and could win a three month test drive in real life.
