The Film-maker With A Camera In His Eye Socket.
16 Mar
Rob Spence, 36, from Toronto damaged his eye in a shooting accident when he was young. He is now in the process of having a glass eye built which will contain a camera and transmitter. Mr Spence will then be able to film everything he sees. This will be the first time a hidden camera has be worn within an eye socket.
Mr Spence has said that whilst people are generally in favour of arms and legs being replaced by hi-tech devices they are less keen when it comes to eyes: “The closer I get to putting this camera eye in, the more freaked out people are about me.”
This raises interesting questions as Mr Spence will not gain any increased access to people private lives, it’s just that he will have the ability to film what he sees. As what we saw last week begins to fade in our memories what the film-makers sees will be recorded exactly as it was.
The Cyborg plans to make a documentary and says that he will ask the permission of everybody he films in a private setting. His camera was created by OmniVision who say that it is a step towards the production of a cyber eye that transmits directly into the wearers brain.
