Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Replace Megan Fox in Transformers 3
2 Jun
British supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been (sort of) confirmed to take the female lead role in the forthcoming Transformers 3 movie being directed by Michael Bay. Ms Huntington-Whiteley is expected to take over from actress Megan Fox who will no longer be playing the role of Mikaela Banes. A video was uploaded to Youtube by Victoria’s Secret (for whom Rosie models) congratulating her on getting the part.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley grew up in Tavistock, Devon until she was discovered by Profile Model Management in 1993. She has since modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch, DKNY, French Connection, and most recently for Victoria’s Secret. She caused a bit of a stir in 2008 when a photo of her holding what appeared to be a bong was published online. She is currently dating fellow actor Jason Statham.
Megan Fox has left the successful Transformers franchise after being quoted referring to Michael Bay as being “a nightmare to work for” and being generally outspoken in a manner that does not go down well with movie studios. She claimed that her role in the first Transformer movie did not require much real acting – many agreed saying that she wasn’t capable of much more anyway. She seemed popular with the fans if not with the critics but Bay clearly considered her replaceable.
Bay has previously worked with Rosie when he created an advert for Victoria’s Secret. It will be interesting to see if Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has any acting ability as she has no known experience apart from being filmed rolling around in her underwear. If not it may confirm Megan Fox’s assertion that the human roles in Transformers take second billing to the CGI robots and explosions.
