Video of the Week: Chris Kamara Misses a Red Card at Portsmouth

6 Apr

What today’s Video of the Week lacks in length it makes up for in hilarity. I don’t think any kind of explanation is needed just watch it and see…

Tony Adams Sacked and Luiz Felipe Scolari Sacked

9 Feb

A struggling Portsmouth have sacked their manager Tony Adam barely three months after he took over from Harry Redknapp. Adams was let go official today although it was not entirely unexpected, under Adams Pompey only won 10 points in 16 games. Avram Grant and Alan Curbishley have both been mentioned as potential replacements.

Adams was not the only former England player to fail to get satisfactory results as a manager. Paul Ince was sacked in December and Bobby Charlton would probably rather we focused on his days on the pitch. Ince was at least Ince was given 6 months, twice as long as Adams had to turn around Portsmouth’s fortunes. Perhaps it’s time for managers to only stay in charge until a match is lost with a ‘winner stays on’ style contract or they could take turns in managing for 5 minute intervals.

Gareth Southgate is odds on favourite to leave next after Middlesbrough lost 1-0 to Man City on Saturday. Thirteen games lost in a row does not reflect well on Southgate who is looking increasingly worried. Mark Hughes also has reason to be worried according to the odds on bet365s football betting page of their online gambling site.

Joe Kinnear was also on the list due to health problems but says he is making a swift recovery after being hospitalised on Saturday morning. His Wikipedia page currently records his death early this morning but this is not backed up by any news sources so I think shenanigans may be involved.

Update: Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed by Chelsea as reported on their official site. This follows Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Hull on Saturday. Scolari’s managerial duties will be relieved by former assistant, Ray Wilkins on a temporary basis.

Manchester United beat Chelsea 3 – 0

12 Jan

Chelsea put on a very poor performance at Manchester United yesterday loosing 3 nil in a match that will have been very embarrassing for Scolari. The blues had 1 shot on target compared to 11 by Man U. They also lost all ability to get within a meter of the ball when tackling perhaps due to frustration. They received six cautions which will mean a £25,000 fine to make things worse.

Ryan Giggs outplayed most of his team mates (including the over rated Berbatov) despite being 35. His speed and reliability was rewarded with the title of Man of the Match.

Ronaldo played well ignoring the chants regarding his recent car acident. Vidic scored a header on the retake after Man U’s first corner/ goal was disallowed. Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov also scored.

Online betting site bet365 had odds of 11/2 for a draw of either 0-0 or 1-1 on their football betting site.  For United to win 1-0 was 7/1 and the same score in Chelsea’s favour was 17/2. Anyone who correctly guessed the scoreline mush have done well. Maradona was reportedly to blame for the fire alarm which woke the Chelsea players the night before so maybe he is a fan of sport betting.
