See-Through Swimsuits Designed To Provide An All-Over Tan.
Jun 1st
A new range of swimsuits have been designed that aim to prevent tan lines by letting sunlight through to the wearers skin. The range is made from a material that is full of tiny holes that let 80% of light in whilst preserving your modesty. The swimsuits feature bright, complex patterns designed to distract the eye so that the holes aren’t noticed.
Health experts have voiced concerns about the range which they believe may leave wearers at risk of contracting skin cancer. They point out that suncream must be worn underneath any articles of clothing that let light through.
“I think it is a dangerous idea and in the interests of vanity. We recommend UV protected clothing and this is the very opposite. Five people a day are diagnosed with malignant melanomas. It is a killer and affects more people here than in Australia.”
Richard Clifford, of ‘Skcin (The Karen Clifford Skin Cancer Charity)
We are increasingly being encouraged to avoid getting a sun tan at all with experts suggesting that it is safer to fake it than risk burning. John Walker of Kiniki who created the swimsuits suggests that wearers put on the same amount of suncream under their swimsuits as they would on completely exposed areas of their body to avoid burning.
How To Choose Swimwear To Suit Your Body Type.
Apr 24th
As the summer approaches our thoughts turn to those brief few weeks when it is actually warm enough to go outside wearing any less clothing than your average Atlantic fisherman. The English are genetically pre disposed to throwing off their clothes at the first sight of sunshine like a primitive tribe celebrating the fact that the ball of fire in the sky has finally returned. As our thoughts turn to beach holidays and summer BBQs here is a guide to the best type of swimwear to suit your body type. (This guide is for women, if you are a man wear swim shorts, nothing else is suitable.)
Swimsuits.
Those who are slightly less confident tend to wear a traditional swimsuit but it is not just for those who wish to cover up. A suit with a halterneck draws attention to the top of your body so is ideal for those who are ‘pear’ shaped, perhaps teamed with a sarong.
If you are ‘apple’ shaped with broad shoulders and a small waist, a high neck line can draw attention to your waist and away from your shoulders.
Those without a tan will normally look better in darker coloured costumes whereas those who are tanned will look best in bright colours.
Bikinis.
If you want to show off a little more skin then a bikini is the best bet. As you can buy the briefs and tops separately any shape should be catered for. An underwired top can give extra support and a padded top can give the effect of more curves.
The Bikini has been a classic fashion item since it was launched in the 1940’s and there have been many variations on the design.
Tankinis.
A Tankini is basically a combination of a tank top with Bikini bottoms. It is less revealing than a Bikini and can be worn as day wear with the addition of a pair of shorts or a skirt. All types of briefs are available including high leg and low rise.
Tankinis are also suitable for those who wish to cover up from the sun leaving less skin exposed to apply sun cream to.
Choosing the best swimwear is like buying Lingerie: the most important thing it fits well. Other than that it is all personal taste.
Australian beach girls warned not to paint their phone numbers on their bodies.
Oct 14th
Girls in Australia have discovered a novel way to attract boys attention when sunbathing in their bikinis. Apparently plain old sunbathing isn’t enough to attract Aussie boys attentions anymore. The girls have been writing their phone numbers on themselves with sun cream which leaves the number for all to see once they get a tan.
The girls have been warned against displaying their numbers by Campaigner Nikki Goldstein who has said
‘We’d never advise girls to broadcast their phone number on the internet or anywhere that could make them a target. They’re in their bikinis, showing off their bodies, objectifying themselves in a way that is, to my mind, a bit trashy.’
