No matter how frugal you are with your finances, there are sometimes situations when it makes sense to spend a little more.
Most of the time, the best financial decision is to find the best deal and spend as little money as possible on your expenses. After all, why spend more when you don’t need it?
However, there are sometimes situations when it can be more valuable to your savings accounts and splash out on a certain expense than to try to be frugal. In these situations, the extra money spent will be returned back to you and then some, in the form of savings or future success, health and happiness. The things that make sense to splurge on will be different for everyone, but here are some of the common items that are usually worth spending a bit more money on:
If you can be continuously improving your skills and knowledge throughout your life, and constantly improving and challenging yourself, you have a great chance of succeeding. If you approach education as a tool to help you achieve your goals, any money that you invest in educating yourself will come back to you multiplied in the opportunities that your learning creates. Knowledge is power, so invest in yourself!
Educating yourself can refer to studying a degree at college or university, but this is not the only way you can invest in your mind. Take a course, training session, or a workshop, or simply invest in the materials and teach yourself.
We spend approximately one third of our lifetime sleeping, so it is a worthwhile splurge to invest in a good quality bed and mattress. This will prevent stiffness, sore neck, back problems, and help you fell more rested and alert throughout the day. Sleep deprivation can decrease your mental functioning, and can also lower your immune system making you more likely to get sick, so paying a bit extra to ensure that you are getting the rest that you need can be completely worth it.
If you are serious about a sport, such as running, it can be worth it to invest in good quality trainers rather than the cheapest shoes that you can find. Cheap footwear will not only wear out incredibly quickly and need to be replaced, but it will also cause damage to your feet and joints. Spend a little bit more on good quality footwear and it will last longer and protect your body from injury, saving you money on buying replacements and on doctor’s bills. This can apply to other sports equipment, such as football boots, skis or a bicycle.
These are just a few of the things that are usually worth spending a bit more money on. When deciding whether to splurge or save, think about what is more valuable to you and whether you will get more value out of it if you invest a little bit more.

The Grand Theft Auto series are probably among the most popular games ever created. They are certainly among the most controversial. The release of a teaser trailer caused shockwaves of excitement to ripple across the internet. Here, take a look for yourself if you haven’t already:
From that short trailer a couple of things stand out. The first is that the graphics have clearly come on in leaps and bounds compared to GTA 4. The second is that it appears to show a return in setting to the parallel world LA, ‘Los Santos’ that featured in GTA:San Andreas. What is not shown in the trailer of huge amounts of gratuitous violence and mayhem – but it is unlikely that fans of the series will have anything on that front to worry about!
